It’s here to teach you how to let go of the people who never understood your heart. It’s here to remind you that your worth isn’t determined by someone’s inability to respect your feelings.

Book Summary

Have you ever found yourself lying awake at two in the morning, staring into the quiet darkness, replaying memories with someone who is no longer in your life? You sift through the beautiful moments, the whispered promises, and the confusing departure, inevitably arriving at one haunting question: Did you ever love me? This deeply human inquiry forms the beating heart of Rithvik Singh’s bestselling book, Did You Ever Love Me?. Subtitled "A book for people who feel everything deeply," it is not just a collection of prose and poetry; it is a gentle companion for the brokenhearted. In a world that constantly tells us to "move on," Rithvik Singh offers a desperately needed sanctuary. He extends a warm hand to the over-thinkers, the heavy-lovers, and the deep-feelers, validating their grief in the most lucid language imaginable. This book is a mirror reflecting our most vulnerable selves, reminding us that it is perfectly okay to still hurt.

At the core of this poignant book is the agonizing anatomy of a breakup, particularly the kind that leaves you with more questions than answers. When a relationship ends without closure, the human mind naturally scrambles to make sense of the emotional whiplash. Singh beautifully captures the essence of this specific torment. He writes about how we start questioning the validity of the past. If they left so easily, were the "I love yous" even real? Was the warmth just an illusion? The title itself is the cry of a heart trying to reconcile the person they loved with the stranger that person became at the end. Singh does not rush to offer toxic positivity or shallow fixes to these monumental questions. Instead, he bravely sits with you in the uncomfortable gray area of doubt. He acknowledges that sometimes, the hardest part of letting go isn't the physical absence of the person, but the perceived betrayal of your own memories. Through his clear writing, he gently explains that their inability to love you properly does not invalidate the purity of the love you felt. The book holds immense space for this confusion, allowing the reader to grieve the loss of certainty.

Society often treats sensitivity as a fatal flaw. If you cry easily, love with your entire soul, or take a little longer to heal than others expect, you are frequently told that you are simply "too much." One of the most beautiful triumphs of Singh’s writing is how he completely reclaims this sensitivity as a superpower rather than a weakness. Did You Ever Love Me? is essentially a breathtaking love letter to those who feel everything deeply. The author inherently understands that for some people, love is not a casual endeavor; it is an all-consuming fire. Consequently, the ashes of that fire take much longer to clear. Singh validates the sheer exhaustion of being a deep feeler in a fast-paced world. He uses highly conversational language to whisper directly to the reader: Your heavy heart is not a burden; it is a testament to your capacity for profound beauty. He breaks down the heavy stigma surrounding emotional vulnerability. The book tells you that crying over someone who hurt you doesn't make you weak; it proves your intentions were entirely genuine. Singh acts as a virtual friend who sits quietly beside you on your absolute worst days, simply saying, "I know. I understand."

Another incredibly profound theme explored in the book is the chaotic, unpredictable, and entirely non-linear journey of healing. Modern culture often portrays emotional healing as a neat, step-by-step staircase: you cry, you accept, and you move on. Rithvik Singh completely shatters this unrealistic myth with refreshing honesty. Through his delicate prose, he illustrates that healing is messy and disorganized. It is completely normal to feel perfectly fine for three whole weeks, only to break down in a grocery store because you happened to see their favorite brand of coffee. Did You Ever Love Me? normalizes these terrifying relapses. It talks openly about the bad days when the ache returns, the lonely nights when you are tempted to send a text you shouldn't, and the heavy mornings when getting out of bed feels impossible. By documenting these jagged edges of recovery, Singh reassures the reader that they are not failing at healing just because they are still hurting. He emphasizes deep, unconditional patience with oneself as the single most vital ingredient in mending a broken heart. You are allowed to take your time.

As the book progresses, there is a masterful shift in focus. The narrative slowly pivots away from the person who left, turning the spotlight back onto the person who remains—you. One of the most striking realizations Singh helps his readers achieve is about the true nature of the love they lost. When heartbroken, we often mourn the love we think the other person gave us. But Singh beautifully points out that the magic wasn't just in them; the magic was entirely in you. The world-altering love you experienced was generated by your own heart. Because you are capable of loving someone else that deeply, you are inherently capable of loving yourself with that exact same intensity. The book guides the reader toward ultimate self-reclamation. It encourages you to take all the leftover affection you have been hoarding for someone who walked away, and finally pour it back into your own soul. Did You Ever Love Me? is a manifesto for emotional survival. For anyone who has ever felt too much, this book is a gentle reminder: your love was real, you are enough, and your beautiful heart will undoubtedly breathe again.
